In 2017, InFocus launched its first book club with Wonder, by R.J. Palacio. Our consultant, Rebecca DiSandro, served as lead facilitator with support from Sam Ball and Lindsey Oakes (InFocus Program Coordinator). Book club members with varying abilities met weekly at Scuppernong Books to engage in meaningful conversations about the book, and about living with a disability. In the final weeks of the book club, members created their own precepts that were inspired by a lead book character, Mr. Brown. Lastly, InFocus book club members hosted an interactive exhibit with movie goers at Red Cinema’s Wonder movie premiere in Greensboro, NC. A special thank you to Scuppernong Books and Red Cinemas for hosting our book club.
