Chez Genèse is French for the place of Genesis or the place of new beginnings. We are a French inspired restaurant located in downtown Greensboro, and it is our mission to create and cultivate community and inclusion through the process of hiring adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Although the restaurant has only been open for just over a month, the dream for this concept has been alive for over 6 years.

My heart has been strongly influenced over the years by my three cousins, Zachary, Tyler and Tate, who are on the autism spectrum and have taught me so much about perspective through the unique language of autism. Observing the challenges presented to them when transitioning from an educational setting to a workplace setting, and the injustice they encountered when applying for jobs, provided strong motivation to create a work environment that is based on ability and character, and not a label or past experience.

Our mission states that we believe everyone has abilities and skills to contribute, and our business is structured in a way that strongly supports and upholds that belief. We are an LLC, and operate as a standard for-profit business. Our concept aims to provide not just a unique employment opportunity, but also a great food and service experience.
