I WOULD LIKE ALL PLACES IN THE COMMUNITY TO MAKE ME FEEL WELCOME, VALUED, AND IMPORTANT.

 

I love the InFocus® Consultant Academy because I met new people with disabilities and I learned a lot about how to be the best self-advocate. The InFocus® Consultant Academy taught me about advocating for things in the community.

 

I want to advocate for places of employment, like the place where I work, A Special Blend. I love working at A Special Blend because they hire people with disabilities. Having a job makes me feel like I can do anything that other people can do. I enjoy making drinks, and they taught me how to make really good drinks. I enjoy working with friends and getting paid. I feel welcome where I work, and I feel valued and important. I would like all places in the community to make me feel welcome, valued, and important.

 

I want others in the community to know that people with disabilities are just like everyone else. We can learn just as much as anyone else. Even though it might take us a little bit longer to learn, we want to be included and do things that others can do.

 

I would recommend the InFocus® Consultant Academy to other self-advocates, because it will help people speak up for themselves and their community.
